At PurpleHat Designs, there is no “us.” There is me, Lauren Flax, a fellow business owner and entrepreneur.

I’ve written many “about us” pages in my time. The about us page has plenty of nuance to it if you’re doing it right. It shows the human side of your business while establishing credibility, and it is a great place to pepper some keywords and search terms that people might use to find you. image of lauren b flaxFor example, my bio would naturally include content about how long I have been a website designer in Baltimore, with expertise in search engine optimization (SEO), developing website content, and managing Google Adwords pay-per-click campaigns. My bio would also include my extensive background in online marketing and effective publicity on a shoestring budget.

But, when you’re taking on an investment as important and complex as a website for your business, you want to know more than just credentials and buzzwords. Does the person making your site really get what your business is about? Will you be passed off to an account manager who is managing a dozen other sites? And how many salespeople will you have to talk to just to find out how much this costs, anyway?

Your success is my business.

I am here as your partner in creating an online presence that shows your business the right way to the right audience. When you work with me, you get a website backed by over two decades of experience in common sense marketing and promotion.

Like most independent business owners, I started this business because I love what I do. Seeing businesses grow with good site design, solid content, and smart search engine management is so rewarding. When you work with me, you aren’t just an account or billable hours. Your success is my business.

Bio

I made my first website just for fun in 2000. Before making the leap to web design as my primary business, I worked in health care and online marketing, and authored the content for several long term care sites. I was the product manager for an online retailer and was responsible for the procurement, promotion, and publicity of the retailer’s products. I have also volunteered my public relations and promotions services for non-profit and hobbyist groups. While I work with a great array of businesses, I have specific expertise in long term care, health care, and complementary medicine.

I have a B.S. in Health Policy and Administration from The Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. in Writing from The Johns Hopkins University, and hold certificates in website development and design, and web analytics and advertising. I am also an E-RYT 500 yoga instructor, and develop curricula for and lead introductory and advanced yoga teacher trainings.
